New York State Education Department (NYSED) needed a consistent way to evaluate school facilities across the state and turn those findings into a reliable long-term capital planning process. FOS of CannonDesign partnered with NYSED on a statewide building condition assessment program to standardize facility analysis for more than 700 school districts.

FOS of CannonDesign developed the checklists, protocols, software tools, and evaluation forms used to complete five-year capital plans and support NYSED’s statewide capital budget process. The program was implemented for use by A/E firms across New York State and is repeated every five years, helping guide budget and funding decisions for each district.
