Tripwire and Astro Making Best Practices a Daily Show

Astro, the leading direct‑to‑home satellite television broadcaster in Southeast Asia with a large in‑house IT estate (200+ engineers overseeing 500+ servers and network devices), needed to establish baseline operational best practices to support rapid growth and new technologies. Key challenges included eliminating manual checklist processes, improving accuracy and reporting, and automating PCI DSS auditing and continuous compliance monitoring.

Astro implemented Fortra’s Tripwire Enterprise—first on 50 critical and PCI‑designated servers in April 2010, then on another 100 servers and network devices in July 2010—with plans to expand further. The solution automated change and compliance checks, delivered on‑demand reporting for auditors, and tightened file integrity monitoring. As a result Astro moved from an “audited” to an “assured” organization, significantly improved accuracy and efficiency, and cut engineering time on checklist tasks from 5–6 hours to about one hour.
