The Choctaw Nation Easily Converts Paper-flow into Electron-flow

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is a sovereign tribal government with 101,555 members and about 4,805 employees, running a wide range of services from health and education to casinos and commercial subsidiaries. Its IT department struggled under a mountain of paper records—birth/death certificates, land titles, financial and legal forms—stored in two warehouses and processed through disconnected imaging systems that were costly, labor-intensive, prone to lost documents, and incompatible with its financial software.

The tribe implemented HelpSystems’ Webdocs (integrated with JD Edwards on an iSeries) to centralize document imaging, allow point-of-entry scanning with unlimited scanner licensing, and display related documents from within application screens. With over 30 scanners online, roughly 2 TB of images stored and smooth conversion from legacy systems, Webdocs eliminated a separate imaging department, cut storage and labor costs, sped document access to a click from users’ apps, and simplified administration while enabling remote, customizable access.
