A Fortra Case Study
Stewart & Stevenson, a century-old Houston-based manufacturer of diesel-powered equipment with thousands of employees and 750+ service technicians, needed a simpler way to access and analyze JD Edwards data on a System i with limited interactive capacity. They required both graphical and browser interfaces that end users could use easily and tools to summarize and export very large data sets to PC formats like Excel.
They implemented SEQUEL and the SEQUEL Web Interface, giving ~50 users ViewPoint access to build views and ~250 users browser access to run scripts and reports. SEQUEL reads JDE dictionary files, converts dates and numeric formats, provides dynamic prompts, summarizes huge files (e.g., 38M records) for Excel or other exports, and supports automated Excel email delivery and exception reporting to improve data integrity and sales analysis.
