A Fortra Case Study
Scott & White, a large Texas multi‑specialty hospital system with a 500‑bed main hospital and 15 regional clinics, faced a complex, mission‑critical IT environment of nearly 500 servers (including UNIX, NetWare and Windows systems). With patient care and reputation on the line, the IT team needed a reliable capacity‑planning approach to predict demand during peak periods, avoid performance bottlenecks, and reduce rising infrastructure costs from power, cooling and space.
They implemented Vityl Capacity Management to monitor workloads, model peak‑period usage and run what‑if scenarios via a four‑phase capacity‑planning process. The solution gave accurate capacity predictions (typically within ~5%), revealed peak usage windows, enabled server consolidation through higher CPU/RAM utilization and micro‑partitioning, and delivered the insights needed to allocate capacity, meet SLAs and lower operating costs.
