Schaumburg School District Learns about Document Protection from HelpSystems

Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54, a suburban Chicago district with 27 schools, three administration buildings, 14,000 students and roughly 3,000 staff, faced risks and inefficiencies from relying on paper personnel records. Paper was vulnerable to fire, flood and misfiling, required time‑consuming manual retrieval and re‑filing, and consumed valuable office space—prompting the district to seek a secure, cost‑effective way to protect and manage critical documents.

The district implemented HelpSystems’ Webdocs to scan and store records on their iSeries server, choosing a per‑scanning‑station licensing model that proved far cheaper than per‑user alternatives. Documents are now accessible via a standard web browser, backed up automatically with nightly iSeries tapes for easy disaster recovery, and available simultaneously to multiple users—reducing lost/misfiled records, boosting productivity, and freeing up filing space.
