Robot Stocks Staples with Automation Supplies

Staples, a $25 billion retailer operating 2,300 stores and more than 100 fulfillment centers across 20 countries, needed a better way to manage IBM i systems, warehouse operations, retail services, and compliance tasks. Before automation, its teams relied on manual run books and time-consuming daily operations, leading to excessive tickets, slower issue detection, and too much routine system work. Staples used Fortra’s Robot products, including Robot Console, Robot Alert, Robot Schedule, and Robot Network.

Fortra’s automation platform helped Staples centralize monitoring, automate messages and job scheduling, and make changes across 34 partitions from one host, improving control and reducing interruptions. The result was fewer tickets and alerts, earlier detection of hardware and performance issues, easier compliance reporting, and less manual work for IT and support teams. Staples also avoided unnecessary hardware upgrades and gained time for higher-value projects, with Fortra’s support described as a major benefit.
