Robot Helps Heartland Financial Maximize their Banking Software

Heartland Financial USA, Inc., a $5.7 billion multi-bank holding company founded in 1981 with 10 independently chartered banks and 81 locations, relied on an IBM iSeries and Fiserv Signature for core banking but struggled with manual processes and temperamental native schedulers. With more than 400 separate jobs, nightly workflows varied in duration, operators had to watch and manually coordinate jobs across iSeries and Windows, and the company needed a scalable systems management solution to support rapid growth and meet audit requirements.

Heartland implemented HelpSystems’ Robot suite — Robot CPA, Robot/Space, Robot Schedule/Enterprise, Robot Console (with OPAL) and Robot Alert — to centralize and automate scheduling, monitoring, and reporting across platforms. The solution enabled event-based scheduling, reduced manual intervention (operators no longer babysit jobs), simplified upgrades and testing via export/import, and automated archival of job logs for auditors. The result was consistent, reliable processing (including smoother month-ends), cross-platform visibility, and the capacity to scale as the business grows.
