Robot HA Helps Amphenol Migrate to POWER9 and Implement a Reliable Backup

Amphenol, a global manufacturer of ruggedized connectors for military and aerospace applications, needed to modernize its IBM i infrastructure after IBM ended support for its POWER7 server and after weather-related disruptions raised concerns about disaster recovery. The company also wanted to reduce downtime and protect 24/7 access for its global users, so it turned to Fortra and Robot HA for IBM i.

Fortra implemented Robot HA to migrate Amphenol to POWER9 hardware, enable role swaps, and establish daily replication between sites in New York and Arizona. The solution replicated 150 user libraries, 20 major IFS folders and directories, and 15 million documents, cutting a planned 12- to 15-hour migration down to about 10 minutes. Amphenol now has synchronized data, reliable failover, and ongoing visibility through logs, while Fortra’s support helped ensure a smooth transition and greater business continuity.
