Cascade Corporation, a Portland-based leader in lift truck attachments with about 2,000 employees and over $450M in annual revenue, needed to eliminate heavy manual overnight operations and weekend staffing while reliably running thousands of batch jobs and full-system backups. Running JD Edwards on an IBM i (iSeries) platform, the IT team sought more automation to reduce shifts and operator intervention without disrupting production or financial processing.

Cascade implemented HelpSystems’ automation suite — Robot SCHEDULE, ALERT, SAVE, REPORTS and CONSOLE — to orchestrate 2,000+ jobs, integrate EnterpriseOne batch runs via RUNUBE, and perform automated incremental and RSU full backups. The result: “lights-out” operations with on-call only staffing, automated alerts for failures, regular unattended full backups (under six hours), and stable vendor support that delivered reliable, low‑touch production processing.
