Royal Bank of Scotland International (RBSI), an offshore bank based in Jersey with over £7.2bn in assets, relied on five AS/400 systems to run critical banking services. Operators were overwhelmed by high volumes of system messages across multiple green screens, forcing reactive “fire‑fighting,” risking missed alerts and consuming time that could not be devoted to improving system management.

RBSI partnered with CCSS to deploy QSystem Monitor and QMessage Monitor, replacing green‑screen monitoring with a centralized PC front end that filters 90–95% of messages and enables management by exception. Automated alerts, paging, event processing and role‑based views let operators act proactively, automate printer recovery and monitor ASPs and output queues; the tools prevented a potentially week‑long outage during a migration, improved SLA adherence and reduced the need for 24/7 manual oversight.
