A Fortra Case Study
The City of Warren relied on an IBM i (System i) platform for critical services—human resources, payroll, accounts payable, and a 911 dispatch interface—and stored personal and banking data for more than 22,000 utility customers. With 200+ users across 19 locations and limited visibility into who was accessing the system, the city faced the risk that users could accidentally or intentionally delete, corrupt, or expose sensitive data.
Warren implemented Powertech Exit Point Manager for IBM i to restrict access to approved users and lock down common exit points (FTP, ODBC, Remote Command), and now receives weekly reports to monitor activity across sites. The result: role-based access controls, tracked user activity, protected exit points, and stronger overall System i security supported by staff training and best-practice guidance.
