Powertech Helps Community Bank Enforce Internal iSeries Compliance

First Security Bank, one of Montana’s largest locally owned community banks, runs Fiserv CBS Worldwide banking applications on a System i 525 with over 150 users. Although an external firewall protected the network, the bank struggled to monitor and control internal iSeries activity—like FTP and ODBC access—leading to time-consuming oversight and inconsistent enforcement of corporate security policies.

The bank implemented Powertech Exit Point Manager for IBM i to enforce internal iSeries compliance, set rules limiting FTP/ODBC by user, group, and IP, and monitor access with daily reports and real‑time alerts. As a result, First Security tightened server access without disrupting operations, improved security compliance, and gained automated reporting and alerting.
