Patrick Industries Reduces Printed Report Pages by 76% with Robot

Patrick Industries is a $300 million manufacturer and distributor with 27 facilities across 13 states, serving primarily the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing, furniture and cabinet markets. Their IBM iSeries-produced reports created massive print volumes—about 230,000 pages per month—using primitive bursting tools with no online viewing, which drove high printer, paper, and labor costs and made report distribution and scheduling difficult to maintain.

By implementing HelpSystems’ Robot SCHEDULE and Robot REPORTS (with OPAL code) alongside Oracle World, Patrick automated report bursting, segmentation and custom distribution via monitored output queues and introduced online viewing. The solution cut printed pages by 76%, moved over 175,000 pages per month to view-only online, reduced printer/paper/labor costs, simplified nightly processing, sped up operator training, and improved productivity and information sharing.
