A Fortra Case Study
A multinational banking and financial services company with more than 50,000 employees worldwide needed to better protect sensitive credit card customer data while meeting strict PCI-DSS, SOX, and GLB requirements. The company faced the challenge of controlling access to personal and payment data for more than 50 million credit card customers across workstations, VPNs, and thin clients, while also managing removable storage security. Fortra’s Digital Guardian was selected to help address these compliance and data protection needs.
Fortra implemented Digital Guardian to automatically classify data using both context and content inspection, monitor user activity, and enforce granular access and encryption policies. The solution encrypted sensitive files on network servers and removable drives, allowed only authorized decryption on protected workstations, and provided detailed logging for reporting. As a result, the company gained complete visibility into PCI-regulated data, improved compliance with PAN encryption requirements, and enabled secure use of non-company devices with automatic encryption.
