A Fortra Case Study
A local legislative body’s MIS director and a six-person team were overwhelmed by a user-to-IT ratio of over 70:1 and constant firefighting. Repeated service interruptions, slowdowns and undiagnosed performance complaints stalled planned projects (IP phones, webcasts, service-call database) because the team lacked the tools to pinpoint whether issues were server-, network- or user-caused.
After a proof of concept, the legislature deployed Vityl Capacity Management with a network application agent to see per-user and per-application resource consumption. The team could now identify bandwidth hogs (streaming audio/video), distinguish user vs. server problems, produce reports for managers, and proactively fix issues before they affected users—improving application availability, customer service, and freeing time for future projects.
