Lansing School District uses SEQUEL to Bring Data to the Desktop

Lansing School District, serving over 14,000 students across 25 elementary, four middle, and three high schools, faced the challenge of turning data trapped in a legacy 5250 CIMS system into actionable, desktop-accessible information. Routine tasks—monthly budget distribution, PO approvals, and access to student records—were manual, time-consuming, and prevented staff, teachers, and bus drivers from getting timely student and operational data.

Using SEQUEL, the district built dashboards, web interfaces, and automated scripts to deliver real-time student information, drill-down analytics, and personalized PDF reports via email. The solution extended data to bus drivers, automated budget and PO workflows, simplified data extraction and date-based processes, and saved significant time and printing costs while empowering teachers and administrators with timely, actionable insights.
