Growing School District Leads the Way in EdTech with Network Monitoring

Vail Unified School District, a rapidly growing K–12 district south of Tucson known for its textbook-free, 1:1 EdTech initiatives, needed to keep a large, expanding network reliable for more than 10,000 students and staff. With 18 schools and thousands of devices, intermittent slowdowns and unseen anomalies threatened classroom technology and online assessments, so IT needed a way to understand “normal” network behavior and catch problems before they became outages.

The district deployed Intermapper and Intermapper Remote Access as a visual “big board” for real-time monitoring, mapping 5,000+ switches, routers and servers across 18 networks. The tools made it easy to spot anomalies (for example, an overloaded core switch), quickly remediate issues, and prevent downtime—supporting continued EdTech growth and giving the IT team reliable, cross-platform visibility.
