A Fortra Case Study
Georgian College, a publicly funded Ontario college with 10 campuses and over 11,000 students, faced the challenge of keeping a geographically distributed, increasingly complex network—thousands of devices including hundreds of switches, routers and managed UPSs—running reliably across more than 7,100 square miles. The IT team needed a scalable, proactive monitoring solution to find and assess network issues quickly rather than relying on manual checks or basic free tools.
By deploying Intermapper and Intermapper Remote Access, the Network Infrastructure Group built detailed maps (nearly 500) and custom probes, enabled intelligent alerts and SYSLOG notifications, and displayed live maps campus-wide. The result: earlier detection of problems before users noticed, faster troubleshooting and outage investigations, greater visibility into device locations and statuses, and a measurable reduction in reported issues.
