Fortra Tames the Paper Beast at ITW Filtertek

Filtertek, a subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works, was struggling with paper-based legal, intellectual property, and operational documents spread across multiple locations. Finding misfiled records was slow and costly, paper was hurting productivity and customer response times, and the company needed a better way to digitize documents while also purging obsolete files to save storage. Fortra’s HelpSystems Webdocs was chosen as the document management solution.

Fortra implemented Webdocs and document scanning to store and retrieve operational documents electronically, with browser-based access for about 30 users across locations. The result was faster document retrieval, easier customer service, and automatic purging of outdated files to conserve online storage. Filtertek also reported lower total cost of ownership and smoother access to bills of lading and other records, with plans to expand further using Fortra’s signature capture and iForms solutions.
