A Fortra Case Study
A top-five U.S. bank operating 84,000 Solaris, AIX and Red Hat Linux servers across multiple domains and global locations faced thousands of administrators and a complex, heterogeneous environment. Their challenges were to protect sensitive customer data and applications, prevent insider fraud, eliminate shared functional-account passwords, automate user-account administration, and satisfy SOX, PCI and other regulatory and audit requirements.
The bank standardized on Powertech Identity & Access Manager (BoKS) to centrally and automatically manage accounts and privileged access. BoKS provides transparent privilege elevation, eliminates password sharing, enforces auth/authorization by user, source, method, target and time, centrally manages SSH host keys, records keystrokes, automates server on/offboarding, and consolidates logs for audits. Results included a centralized admin console, enforced root control across servers, simplified compliance reporting, lower administration costs, and stronger protection against insider fraud.
