Empire Merchants, the largest liquor distributor in Upstate New York, faced a workflow bottleneck when state law required drivers to carry and return signed paper invoices. After consolidating customer service to a single office, returning and processing those invoices became impractical, leaving them to choose between a $1,000/month courier service or a paperless invoice-processing solution.
They implemented HelpSystems' Webdocs for AP, integrated with their IBM i/Movex (now Lawson M3) ERP, so distribution centers can scan and share invoices electronically. The change eliminated the courier expense, lets customer service retrieve invoice and order information in seconds, and provides electronic backups for disaster recovery.
