A Fortra Case Study
A large credit union in the financial services sector faced targeted phishing attacks in which malicious actors sent emails impersonating a C‑level executive to request approval of wire transfers. The primary challenge was protecting employees from being tricked by realistic-looking executive impersonation emails that could lead to fraudulent wire payments.
The credit union engaged Fortra’s PhishLabs to investigate and remediate the campaign. PhishLabs identified the malicious email, the recipients, and dozens of IP addresses tied to the activity, and took those infrastructure elements offline to stop the attack.
