Turkcell, Turkey’s leading communications and mobile operator with over 39 million subscribers, needed to strengthen protection of customer and corporate data handled daily in Microsoft Office files. Existing server-based DLP reduced some risk but produced false positives, delayed or blocked legitimate documents, and couldn’t prevent accidental leakage by thousands of employees.

Turkcell deployed Fortra’s Data Classification Suite for Office to let users classify documents in-app, add visual markings, and generate metadata that feeds its DLP, creating a complete endpoint-to-server approach. Rolled out to 3,000+ employees, the solution increased user awareness and adoption, eliminated many delays and false positives, recovered its cost quickly, and improved Turkcell’s overall data security posture while remaining scalable for future standards.
