A Fortra Case Study
WEHCO Media, a Little Rock–based company operating seven daily newspapers, 13 cable systems and high‑speed internet across six states with over 2,000 employees, faced a growing operations problem: an increasingly complex, manual IBM i job schedule, high operator turnover, a six‑month training curve for new staff, and recurring scheduling errors that threatened timeliness and reliability.
To address this, WEHCO implemented HelpSystems’ Robot suite—Robot SCHEDULE, REPLAY, CONSOLE and ALERT—to automate batch and interactive processes, monitor resources and send event notifications. In about two months they automated 1,200 jobs and now run 3,800 jobs per day; Robot REPLAY handles interactive tasks that were once “unautomatable” (now 30% of the schedule), critical reports run on time and alerts quickly notify staff of issues—enabling growth without increasing operations headcount.
