Medmarc Insurance Group, a leader in medical products liability insurance, faced a recurring month-end bottleneck: underwriters continued to enter policies until the close of business, leaving IT a narrow overnight window to run multiple manual applications to update the data warehouse. Lengthy, hands-on processes (one taking over three hours, another up to six) required IT staff to babysit jobs, often running well into the morning and delaying executives from receiving timely financial and loss-run reports.
Developer Chris Prime implemented Automate by HelpSystems to run the close processes unattended at month end, with monitoring and automated alerts for failures. The automation delivers reports by email on schedule, reduces human error, saves at least three employee-days per month, and streamlines regulatory reporting by aggregating outputs from Crystal Reports and Word into single PDFs; Medmarc is now expanding Automate to more financial and policy systems.
