A Fortra Case Study
Vestcom, a Little Rock–based provider of customized shelf-edge marketing materials for major retailers, faced a labor-intensive bottleneck: incoming product data had to be scrubbed, transformed into print-ready PostScript files, and routed to 10 production centers through two internally built GUI applications and hundreds of customer-specific business rules. Six to seven staff spent roughly 150–200 hours per week manually clicking through processes, creating error risk and threatening to require headcount increases as the business grew.
Vestcom implemented Automate’s GUI-driven business process automation, using a drag-and-drop builder to create more than 300 tailored workflows that poll servers, simulate keystrokes/mouse clicks, apply rules, and route files automatically. The change saved about 200 hours per week (equivalent to four to five FTEs), cut error rates by roughly 97 to near-zero, accelerated turnaround by running concurrent jobs, and supported growth without adding data center staff — at a fraction of the cost of custom coding.
