Automate Integrates Critical Applications for a Major Medical Center

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center faced a complex staffing challenge: keeping three critical systems—PeopleSoft (HR), Kronos (time and attendance) and ANSOS One-Staff (staffing)—in sync to ensure proper nurse coverage and patient care. Prior attempts using AutoIT and LaunchPad failed because they lacked secure logon, encryption and reliable failure/success notifications, leaving IT unable to guarantee security or effectively monitor the integrations.

HelpSystems Automate now orchestrates those applications, acting as a “traffic cop” to automate thousands of file and data transfers while providing secure logon, password/task encryption and granular email/SMS alerts for task status. MD Anderson has deployed over 80 Automate tasks supporting 2,700 staff (about 150 concurrent users), reduced manual work (0.8 FTE, ~$150,000 saved) and achieved a 650% ROI, while making changes faster and improving overall reliability.
