Alaska Communications Reaches New Heights with Network Monitoring from Intermapper

Alaska Communications, an internet service provider supporting critical communications infrastructure in remote parts of Alaska, needed a safer and more efficient way to manage a new mountaintop site that was only reachable by helicopter and often inaccessible in bad weather. The company turned to Fortra’s Intermapper network monitoring solution to help maintain service without frequent, costly, and risky trips to the site.

Fortra implemented Intermapper with Intermapper Remote Access and Insite for Intermapper, giving Alaska Communications a single dashboard to monitor devices, power feeds, heaters, transfer switches, and other site conditions from anywhere. Integrated with their SiteBoss automation system, the solution also enabled automatic alerts to their chopper service if the site went down or showed signs of power failure. The result was better visibility, faster issue detection, fewer site visits, and savings in both time and money.
