A Fortinet Case Study
Zahid Tractor & Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd., a long-established Saudi distributor and service provider with four main locations and over 40 branches, needed to tighten network security as it moved from a flat VLAN to a multi‑VLAN architecture. With company laptops, BYOD and contractor devices connecting across remote sites, the IT team required an easy-to-deploy, 802.1x‑independent solution that would automatically assign users to the correct VLAN, scan endpoints, simplify guest/contractor access, and prevent misuse of unmanaged switches.
Zahid implemented Fortinet’s Network Access Control (NAC), gaining unified, profile-based endpoint visibility and automated provisioning that places users and devices on appropriate VLANs both pre- and post-connect. The rollout delivered real-time device and user monitoring, blocked hub/unmanaged-switch abuse, streamlined peripheral registration and guest access, and produced measurable gains in operational efficiency, security posture, and IT process automation.
