Water Treatment Company Improves Customer Service and Performance with Private Cloud

Tower Water, a family-owned water treatment and HVAC services firm serving high-rises in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, hired IT director Matthew Marlowe to modernize an aging public-cloud infrastructure. The existing setup caused latency and performance problems, rising costs to add RAM, poor third-party support, minimal security protections, and an urgent need to provide building owners secure access to SCADA “digis” on their properties.

Tower Water moved to a private virtualized cloud on Nutanix AHV and deployed Fortinet solutions—FortiGate VM (with Secure SD-WAN), FortiSandbox Cloud, FortiGuard services and FortiCare 24×7—delivering faster deployment, stronger security and better visibility. Results included 32–72 staff hours saved on deployment, a 50% reduction in monthly cloud costs versus staying public, 80% telco cost avoidance via SD-WAN, elimination of unscheduled downtime (down from 4%), and secure, segmented VPN access for customers to their SCADA devices.
