A Fortinet Case Study
A small, fast-growing Southeastern U.S. City needed to better secure citizen data, defend against ransomware, and protect both enterprise IT and critical OT systems supporting utilities like electricity and wastewater. Its previous fragmented networking model made security costly and limited visibility across departments and locations, creating added risk for a municipality with 20 departments and 20 sites.
Fortinet implemented the Fortinet Security Fabric, led by FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls, along with FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, and FortiMail, to centralize security and segment the network. Fortinet helped the city logically isolate departments and IT-OT environments without extra hardware, improve visibility and control, and save significant time and money; the city also reported no help desk tickets and plans to expand with Secure SD-WAN, FortiSIEM, and FortiMonitor.
