Supermarket Chain Secures Business in the Cloud
Grupo R Carvalho, formed during a 2019 spinoff from Grupo Carvalho, is a Brazilian retail and wholesale operator with 22 supermarket outlets. After the split the company needed to rebuild its large-scale IT infrastructure and migrate 48 database servers to the Oracle Cloud—while protecting thousands of simultaneous point-of-sale transactions and sensitive business data from cyberattacks.
Working with partner IT Protect, Grupo R Carvalho deployed Fortinet’s FortiGate VM in Oracle Cloud and two FortiGates at its Teresina data center, giving a unified, high‑availability security fabric and single management dashboard. The implementation secured the cloud migration, simplified hybrid management, improved visibility and reporting, blocked intrusions proactively, and boosted network performance across the company.
