Secure SD-Branch Facilitates Technology Modernization for Australian Equipment Rental Business

Kennards Hire, Australia’s largest family‑owned equipment rental business with 180 branches and about 1,500 employees, was moving key workloads to Azure and AWS and needed reliable, direct internet connectivity from branches. Their legacy MPLS links were costly and inflexible, and IT leaders worried that routing traffic through the data center would hinder cloud adoption and risk security and customer experience.

Kennards deployed Fortinet’s SD-Branch—including Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiExtender, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer—to deliver secure, high‑performance branch connectivity and centralized management. The rollout reached all 180 branches in eight weeks (about 20 minutes to provision a site), cut administrative overhead, improved reliability (failover from minutes to seconds), and saved the business hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
