A Fortinet Case Study
Monical’s Pizza, a 64-unit regional chain founded in 1959, was increasingly dependent on web ordering, guest Wi‑Fi and modern POS systems but was hampered by end-of-life security gear that made PCI DSS compliance, segmented networking and remote management difficult. With a three-person IT team and dozens of dispersed restaurants, the company needed a secure, high-performance WAN and multiple isolated Wi‑Fi networks to protect payment data, prevent rogue access points, and reduce time-consuming on-site maintenance.
Working with Converging Networks Group, Monical’s deployed Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN (FortiGate) along with FortiSwitch and FortiAP across its corporate locations. The SD‑Branch rollout dramatically boosted throughput—cutting weekly data pulls from five minutes per site to 15 seconds—reduced connectivity failures and technician travel, streamlined management, enabled faster PCI compliance, and helped the chain sustain and grow online sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.
