Retail Chain With Over a Thousand Physical Stores Securely Achieves Digital Transformation With FortiGate

Via Varejo, one of Brazil’s largest electronics and furniture retailers operating more than 1,000 stores, 27 distribution centers and 41,000 employees, needed to securely modernize its network as the business shifted toward digital sales. The company sought to protect customer and corporate data, handle massive traffic spikes (sales volumes rise about fivefold at Black Friday) and defend against a retail market that is highly targeted by cybercriminals.

Working with partner Secureway, Via Varejo deployed Fortinet FortiGate next‑generation firewalls and FortiManager across its data centers and in over a thousand stores. The rollout delivered 100% FortiGate availability, blocked more than three million bot requests during peak periods, stopped an internal attack via IPS, improved PCI‑DSS compliance, streamlined management and VPNs, and boosted network performance and customer service through greater scalability and faster problem resolution.
