Renewables Company Accelerates New Site Deployments by Consolidating on the Fortinet Security Fabric

RES Americas, the U.S. arm of global renewable developer RES Group, delivers development, construction, and operations across the U.S. and Canada. By 2018 its corporate network and legacy security platform were at end-of-life, and an upcoming migration to a co-location data center plus the need to spin up many temporary construction-site networks (often on 4G/fixed wireless) created requirements for stronger security, low-bandwidth performance, and rapid deployment.

The company consolidated on the Fortinet Security Fabric—centering on FortiGate NGFWs with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer—and built a templated “network-in-a-box” approach for field sites. This enabled a staged, low-downtime migration over a 10 Gb link, improved visibility and IPS-based protection, and cut new-site configuration time from four hours to 30 minutes, while simplifying centralized management and paving the way for further Fortinet integration.
