A Fortinet Case Study
Bobbejaanland, a 56‑acre Belgian theme park with some 40 rides and 750–800K annual visitors, faced the ongoing challenge of increasing attendance and profitability while improving guest experience. Seeing the mobile revolution as an opportunity, the park aimed to deploy park‑wide Wi‑Fi to capture visitor intelligence, connect POS systems securely, and use behavioral data to drive sales and operational decisions.
In 2014 Bobbejaanland installed a FortiGate appliance and 30 FortiAPs (90% coverage) and rolled out FortiPresence to passively map visitor density and dwell time, detecting 60–80% of devices. The system enabled real‑time vendor redeployment, ride scheduling and location‑targeted promotions via social Wi‑Fi (5–7% opt‑ins, >50% requesting coupons), cut operating costs, built a zero‑cost qualified marketing list and delivered measurable increases in sales and operational efficiency with an expected fast ROI.
