A Fortinet Case Study
César Vallejo University, Peru’s largest higher-education institution with 107,000 students across 13 campuses, faced growing challenges in managing communications, security, and connectivity—compounded by remote learning needs after the COVID-19 pandemic, varied campus bandwidth, and costly, fragile MPLS links. IT needed a unified, easy-to-manage solution to secure LAN/WAN access, ensure reliable campus connectivity, and reduce operational complexity and risk.
The university deployed Fortinet Secure SD-WAN and Secure SD-Branch (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP) plus FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiSandbox to centralize management, automate policy deployment, and add zero-day protection. The result was secure, redundant connectivity for all campuses, greater network visibility and reporting, reduced costs by replacing MPLS, faster deployments with fewer errors, and improved service availability and user experience.
