Pepperdine University Enables Network Access Control for Rapid Threat Remediation

Pepperdine University, a liberal arts and research school serving about 8,500 students and 2,000 faculty, faced a BYOD-driven network challenge: provide fast, simple wireless access comparable to public hotspots while still identifying who’s on the network and responding immediately to security threats without disrupting users or overloading IT staff.

Pepperdine deployed FortiNAC for endpoint visibility and automated, policy-based access control, using group profiles for quick onboarding, guest/event account management, and integration with the IDS to automatically quarantine compromised devices and show remediation instructions. The solution delivered secure, easy access for thousands of users, reduced helpdesk calls and manual tasks (like moving printers), enabled rapid threat remediation and DMCA response, and lowered operational and legal risk.
