Pennsylvania School District Improves Network Visibility and Control Through the Fortinet Security Fabric

East Stroudsburg Area School District, a 216‑square‑mile public district in Pennsylvania serving 6,500 students across multiple schools and 1,200 staff, faced persistent network visibility and access-control challenges that grew more complex as threats evolved. With a 16‑person IT team responsible for roughly 1,500 endpoints, the district needed better protections against unauthorized devices, insider‑led DoS attempts, ransomware and sophisticated zero‑day phishing attacks.

Building on a Fortinet deployment that began in 2015, the district expanded its Security Fabric in 2020–21 with FortiEDR, FortiSIEM, upgraded FortiGate NGFWs, FortiNAC, FortiAnalyzer and FortiToken, supported by Fortinet Professional Services. The integrated solution delivered real‑time endpoint detection and automated remediation across 1,500 devices, faster threat hunting and historic traffic analysis, fewer manual processes for the small IT team, and unified visibility and control through a single pane of glass—stopping compromises and DoS activity before they could cause damage.
