Oregon Tech Partners with Fortinet to Educate and Inspire Students

Oregon Institute of Technology, a public polytechnic university, needed to give students practical, real-world cybersecurity experience to meet rising threats and industry demand for hands-on skills. The challenge was building an enterprise-class lab with intuitive, industry-standard equipment that lets students develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities rather than rote "button-pushing."

Oregon Tech partnered with Fortinet to equip its Enterprise Technology Lab with FortiGate appliances and other integrated Fortinet solutions, allowing students to deploy, configure, and test features like application control, intrusion prevention, VPN and web filtering. The result is a richer, hands-on curriculum that produces job-ready graduates, raises the university’s profile in cybersecurity education, and fosters industry connections through Fortinet-led events and mentorship.
