Case Study: Nordlaks achieves secure, resilient offshore fish-farm monitoring and increased production capacity with Fortinet Security Fabric

A Fortinet Case Study

Preview of the Nordlaks Case Study

Norwegian Aquaculture Group Charts New Waters With Extended Security Infrastructure

Nordlaks, Norway’s largest family-owned aquaculture group, operates extensive land- and sea-based production including the new 385 m Jostein Albert “Havfarm” with a 10,000‑tonne capacity. The company needed a resilient, centrally managed network to connect hundreds of sensors, cameras and control systems across a harsh offshore environment, ensure zero downtime, and integrate with its land-based data centers and NOC.

Nordlaks extended its existing Fortinet Security Fabric to the sea farm, deploying FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch Rugged (PoE), FortiAP, FortiWLC, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. The solution—live by summer 2020—delivered secure, real-time monitoring and centralized policy management, increased production capacity, reduced downtime risk, simplified device installation, and provided the visibility and adaptability needed to support future innovations.
