A Fortinet Case Study
Mount St Benedict College, a Catholic girls’ high school in Sydney with a one-to-one laptop program and hundreds more shared devices, faced unreliable legacy Wi‑Fi that couldn’t support high-throughput learning tools (Moodle, Clickview, library systems) or the growing expectation of up to 950 devices. The school needed full, high-density coverage, easier management, and a solution that could scale without extensive cabling or per-classroom access points.
Through reseller ASI/Wavelink, Fortinet delivered an MC3000‑based wireless LAN with Fortinet APs, System Director and a redundant controller, providing single‑channel architecture and centralized management. The deployment reduced the number of APs needed (≈30% fewer), supported hundreds of simultaneous users (system rated to 700; 450 observed with near‑zero latency), extended reliable indoor/outdoor coverage, cut management time and costs, and left the school ready for simple future expansion.
