MITA Enhances Protection for Maltese Citizens’ Data Across the Malta Government Network

The Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA), which provides IT services for the Maltese government, faced the challenge of protecting highly sensitive citizen data across a nationwide network of more than 600 sites. With rising frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks, MITA needed a scalable, easy-to-manage security solution that would provide resilient connectivity, centralized control, and better protection for mobile and multi‑site users.

MITA deployed Fortinet’s FortiGate next‑generation firewalls across its two data centers and hundreds of branch sites, alongside FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiGuard threat intelligence for centralized management, visibility, and automated threat protection. The result was a stronger security posture with simplified troubleshooting, real‑time insights for capacity planning, effective traffic segmentation and web filtering, and faster incident detection and response across the Malta Government Network.
