Migros relies on Fortinet to provide perimeter protection for the entire group network

Migros, Switzerland’s largest retailer and a Global 500 company with 50 companies and 84,000 employees, needed perimeter protection for a highly consolidated IT environment that includes a group-wide SAP ERP (over 10 TB of data) and massive, growing Internet traffic. The challenge was to filter and scan all inbound/outbound HTTP traffic in real time, block attacks with IPS, and preserve latency-free performance across dual-homed Internet links for many independently operating entities and branch offices.

Migros deployed a clustered FortiGate-3951B UTM solution (with FortiGuard and FortiCare), implemented by partner Sidarion, delivering 10‑GbE wire‑speed performance via FortiASIC processors and a modular, consolidated FortiOS platform. The result was high-availability, centralized firewall/AV/IPS/URL/spam protection at up to 120 Gbps, seamless support for core applications (SAP, Oracle, SQL) and thousands of servers, simplified operations and lower total cost of ownership, with additional services ready to activate as needed.
