Mexican University Converges Network and Security Infrastructure With the Fortinet Security Fabric

Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is a private Mexican university with two Mexico City campuses and about 4,500 students that needed a stable, secure communications infrastructure. Before the project ITAM relied on heterogeneous security tools from multiple vendors, lacked visibility and centralized control across campuses, and struggled with resource-draining user behavior and limited ability to manage applications and traffic.

ITAM implemented the Fortinet Security Fabric—deploying FortiGate NGFWs, Secure SD‑WAN with redundant campus links, FortiMail, FortiAnalyzer, FortiWeb and FortiClient—to converge network and security management. The unified platform delivered centralized visibility and administration, real‑time incident response, high availability and better resource prioritization, protected web and email services, simplified integration of new tools, and supported secure remote and hybrid learning.
