Major New Zealand Logistics Provider Boosts Branch Communications with Fortinet SD-WAN

Fliway, one of New Zealand’s largest integrated logistics providers with 13 branches, six warehouses and over 450 staff, faced growing problems with a legacy managed WAN made up of MPLS, internet links and disparate vendors. The mix strained security, was costly and slow to scale, and left network engineers spending excessive time on connectivity—unacceptable for a business that needs always-on links between depots and head office.

Fliway replaced the legacy service with Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN using FortiGate NGFWs, FortiExtender 4G failover and centralized tools (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiAuthenticator), enabling fast branch rollout (services in ~30 minutes), built‑in 4G resilience, stronger security and full application visibility. The new solution delivered higher performance and reliability while cutting branch connectivity costs by more than 50%.
