A Fortinet Case Study
Servizi Italia, a 30‑year provider of rental and sterilization services, laundry and clinical engineering across 56 plants worldwide, faced a critical networking challenge: its headquarters and data center in Parma had to reliably coordinate time‑sensitive deliveries for hospitals and partners while undergoing a digital transformation to cloud and hybrid services. Centralized security checks were backhauling traffic and causing performance problems and timeouts, but opening direct internet access at the edge would have created unacceptable security risk—so the company needed a new architecture to balance performance, resilience and protection.
Working with partner Mead Informatica, Servizi Italia deployed FortiGate Secure SD‑WAN (with FortiManager, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiADC and FortiGuard threat intelligence) to gain centralized visibility, automated self‑healing WAN routing and integrated security. The rollout cut overall downtime by 60%, reduced outage durations by about 100‑fold, lowered 4G backup links by ~25%, simplified management and improved cloud application performance—creating a secure, scalable foundation for VPN, Zero Trust and continued cloud migration.
