A Fortinet Case Study
Public Consulting Group (PCG) is a 35‑year‑old consultancy that supports public‑sector health, education, and human‑services agencies and hosts several key SaaS applications on AWS. PCG needed more consistent, reliable performance and higher availability for those hosted apps — their existing transit VPC hub‑and‑spoke architecture routed all traffic through a single firewall, creating a potential bottleneck and single point of failure.
PCG worked with Fortinet Cloud Consulting Services to redesign the AWS network to use a transit gateway pattern with FortiGate VMs for security and traffic management, validate the design with a proof of concept, and automate the migration of VPCs. The new architecture delivers transparent failover in seconds instead of minutes, has reduced application downtime and staff maintenance effort, and helps PCG’s clients provide uninterrupted public‑sector services.
